Main Event – Day 1A

Main Event Day 1A saw a huge turnout of 170 hopefuls including notable pros from around the globe including previous APT Main Event champions Iori Yogo, Hisashi Ogi, Czardy Rivera, Katsuhiro Muto, Julius Malzanini, In Chul Sin, Shinichiro Tone, Feng Zhao, and Alexis Lim. At the end of day’s play only 90 players survived and leading them all was Germany’s Andre Peh who bagged 183,625 in chips.

The field also included Indian pro Aditya Sushant who bagged the third highest stack of 124,750. Seems like Sushant is back in form as earlier this month he shipped the DPT 15K event for ₹4,76,950 and finished runners-up in the High Roller event for around ₹23 Lakhs!

UK’s Daryl Green ended the day second in chips with 131,700 and the only other player to cross the 100K-mark was Guam’s Annie Bordallo who bagged a stack of 115,625.

Day 1B of the Main Event is currently underway.

Head Hunter

The Head Hunter event saw 189 entries and the final eight players returned to play down to a winner yesterday. The top two stacks at the start of the day i.e. Korea’s Kim Gab Yong and USA’s Nick Gorman eventually ended up battling it out in the heads-up match, with Yong being the aggressive one between the two.

Yong even collected a massive pot through the eventual fifth place finisher Mark Pagsuyuin when the latter’s pocket aces lost out to Yong’s pocket jacks who hit a set on the board.

Yong’s streak of cracking pocket aces didn’t stop there as the final hand of the event saw both players moving all-in on the board with Yong’s defeating the of Gorman who failed to catch any help on the river .

Yong pocketed $13,620 for his first-place finish including Gorman’s bounty reward, his own bounty, and title.

PokerFishS SNG Special Event

The official sponsor of APT – PokerFishS, hosted a special Sit n Go event featuring top four APT players who competed against four PokerFishS’s players. The APT roster included notable pros like Sam Razavi, Iori Yogo, Lester Edoc, and Lim Yo Hwan who battled against PokerFishS team comprising of Ada Chen, Jaden Wang, Lynn Huang, and Alex Liu.

The first two players to get eliminated were APT’s Lester Edoc followed by Yo Hwan. The next three were from PokerFishS i.e. Chen, Huang, and Wang.

Yogo then went on to eliminate Liu and heads up battle started between him and Razavi.

Though both players have competed several times in the past for the APT Player of the Year title but a head-to-head clash between the two has been rare. The heads-up battle started with Yogo leading the stacks but Razavi slowly chipped up to a point when both stacks were almost equal.

Yogo eventually lost a big pot when his were up against Razavi’s . The board provided no help to either and Razavi’s king high got him the pot. In the very next hand the short-stacked Yogo was eliminated and Razavi collected the entire $2,400 prize pool!

Razavi expressed his sentiments through a social media post “Couldn’t be having that runner up monkey sat on my back for more than a day could I. Winner of the PokerfishS sponsored winner-takes-all Sit-n-Go for a selection of crisp $100 bills, a trophy, a phone charger (needed!) and a cute Panda bear that will join Elis zoo tomorrow”
