Ari Engel Ships MSPT Potawatomi For $114,876

Ari Engel (cover image) claimed his second title in a month, after winning the Mid-States Poker Tour (MSPT) Potawatomi for $114,876. In late March; he shipped the PokerStars Championship Panama $1,100 6-Handed Event for $26,270.

One of the most consistent poker players, Engel has 217 tournament cashes and his all time earnings are $4,580,792, that include events which got him eight World Series of Poker (WSOP) Circuit gold rings.

The MSPT Season 8 $1,100 Main Event drew 495 hopefuls and only the top 45 cashed.

92 players resumed action on the final day and the scramble began to reach the money line. Those who failed to cash included Minnesota radio host Cory Cove, 2016 MSPT Iowa State Poker Champ John Sun, and defending champion Alex Aqel.

James Paley was the unfortunate bubble boy, and following that those who cashed included WSOP Circuit Potawatomi High Roller champ Nadya Magnus (42nd – $2,393), MSPT Season 6 Player of the Year Mark Hodge (36th – $2,872), and two-time champ Jeremy Dresch (16th – $4,643).

Eliminations at the final table began with reigning MSPT Player of the Year Rich Alsup exiting at ninth place.

Engel began his path to the top at this point by busting Patrick McCullough with a seven on the turn to bolster his pocket sevens against the latter’s eights. McCullough was out at eighth place

Heine was finally busted at third place by Carlos Monteiro, paving way for heads up.

Engel had the lead, yet the battle lasted a long time. The final hand arrived as Engel with the raised the button to 355,000.

Monteiro three-bet for 3.2 million with the causing Engel to instantly call.

The flop made Engel trips with the on the turn and river confirming his victory.

Monteiro made a runner-up finish for $69,405.
