Delta Corp Ltd. Signs MoU to Operate The Marriott Kathmandu Casino

Nepal’s casino industry appears to be on the upswing lately as after celebrating the long-delayed soft launch of Silver Heritage Group’s new Tiger Palace Resort Bhairahawa which is set to open its casino facility on November 30, there have been several new developments for this sector recently.

Nepalese company Everest Hospitality and Hotel Pvt Ltd has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with India’s largest gaming and the only BSE listed company Delta Corp Ltd. to operate a casino in the premises of the upcoming flagship Marriott Hotel in the Naxal area of Kathmandu, after a license from the government of Nepal is acquired.

The 235-room five-star Marriott Kathmandu, is slated to start operations in June 2018. The property is expected to be a top-class facility with two big brands joining hands.

The Everest Hospitality and Hotel (Pvt) Ltd is a subsidiary of the MS Group which is a leading business conglomerate in Nepal and the group’s first hotel, named Fairfield by Marriott has already started its operations in March this year.

An official statement from the group read, “Implementing the Marriott brand standards, designed by renowned architects and utilizing the best construction companies, the hotel consists of state of the art services including spa, casino, and variety of restaurants, swimming pool, gym, exclusive suites and lounges. The Deltin Group’s gaming properties include three live offshore casinos and one land based in Goa, one live onshore casino in Sikkim, having over 250 gaming tables and slot machines and over 2,000 gaming positions.”.

Delta Corp made their official announcement through a press release which noted – “Delta Corp has entered into a MoU with Everest Hospitality and Hotel (P) Ltd for leasing space at the upcoming five star Marriott Hotel in Kathmandu, Nepal to operate a casino.

Delta will initiate steps to obtain a license from the Government of Nepal and the commencement of operations of the casino will be subject to receipt of this license.

With this proposed casino in Kathmandu, Delta aims to expand its imprint outside India, in line with its strategy of expanding in the region.”

Delta Corp also operates the Deltin Daman integrated resort in the Indian Union Territory – Daman and Diu. Other gaming properties of the group includes three live offshore casinos and one land based in Goa along with a live onshore casino in Sikkim.
