California player Dylan Wilkerson (cover image) took down the World Series of Poker (WSOP) Circuit Bicycle Main Event for $216,790 and his first piece of WSOP jewellery. Wilkerson already has World Poker Tour (WPT) and European Poker Tour (EPT) titles among others, but this was his first WSOP win, though he has cashed the series earlier. He also gets an automatic entry worth $10,000 into the $1 Million GTD 2017 WSOP Global Casino Championship to be held at Harrah’s Cherokee this August.

Speaking about it, he later said, “I hope to win (Global Casino Championship). I never really thought about it until just now. I never thought I was going to play it. I’m thrilled that I’ll get a chance. I’ll get to go out there and play for a bracelet against some fellow winners. I guess we’ll see what happens.”

Wilkerson defeated a stacked final table including 2-time bracelet winner and 2001 WSOP Main Event Champion Carlos Mortensen, WSOP Circuit ring holder Matt Stout and leading British pros Iaron Lightbourne and EPT 2010 Villamoura winner Toby Lewis to claim the title.

The event had a prize pool of $1,059,000 generated from a huge field of 705 entries and the top 72 finishers made the money.

Final Table Recap

Day 3 began with 12 survivors and Wilkerson was down at eighth place on the chip counts, but was focused enough to outlast all the others.

He made short work of Mortensen at eighth place, with his card 3card 2 against the latter’s card 3card 3.

Stout met a similar fate when his pocket kings were overpowered by Douglas Jefferson’s card 2card 3 and exited at fifth place.

Heads up was set after UK’s Toby Lewis busted Lance Alfred at fourth and Jefferson at third place, getting himself a big chip lead.

Lewis:  8,125,000

Wilkerson: 6,020,000

It didn’t take long for Wilkerson to change that and the final hand came soon after. When the blinds were 80,000/160,000 and the ante 20,000, Wilkerson from the button raised to 350k.

Lewis called and the flop delivered card 3card 2card 3. Both players checked and the turn sent out card 1. Lewis bet 550,000 and Wilkerson called. At the card 3 on the river, Lewis bet 1,450,000. Wilkerson moved all in and Lewis called. Wilkerson tabled card 3card 2 for three of a kind, while Lewis had a lower two pair with his card 1card 3 that relegated him to second place with $134,145 for consolation.
