The 2017 World Series of Poker Circuit Hard Rock $1,675 No-Limit Hold’em Main Event attracted a total 904 entries. Joe Gotlieb (cover image) outlasted them all to capture his first WSOPC gold ring and the $257,638 first-place prize.

52-year-old Gotlieb from Hollywood is a small business owner in Florida and sells cell phone parts as his day job. Gotlieb has been devoting a lot of time to poker at night to generate more income. His day job isn’t getting things sorted for Gotlieb who has been considering committing to life as a full-time poker player and it looks like he has a very good reason to turn pro now.

The final table was full of notables and Gotlieb overcame some serious competition in the form of three-time WSOP bracelet winner Brian Hastings and WPT 2015 champion Asher Conniff on his way to the title.

Final Table Recap

The first casualty of the nine-handed final table was Michael Amato who was followed by Daniel Genachte in eighth place.

Jack Shea fell soon thereafter in seventh place with Chad Eveslage following him to the rail in sixth place.

Brett Bader was the next one out and Hastings fell in fourth place after his failed to hold against Conniff’s .

Conniff was looking in great shape to win his first WSOP Circuit Main Event being the chip leader at this point with over 11 million out of the roughly 18 million chips in play. The eventual champion however changed gears quickly and eliminated Mauricio Ameller in third place to bridge the gap somewhat, but Conniff still led with a 3:2 chip advantage when the heads-up duel began.

Gotlieb was able to win a few key pots to take the lead and finally won the title. The last hand of the event saw Conniff limping only to get a raise from Gotlieb. Conniff announced all-in holding and got a call from Gotlieb who tabled . Gotlieb rivered a full house on the board to lift the trophy!

Post his win Gotlieb said, “I wanted to give it a shot at going pro. This was it. This was my shot at that.”
