This PokerGuru 3-Bet edition is all about poker tournaments. We start this feature with the schedule of the much-anticipated 2018 Super High Roller Bowl which will once again be played out at the ARIA Resort and Casino from May 27 to May 30.

Then we have two tournament winner reports, the first one is of Loni Harwood who took down the WSOP Circuit Las Vegas High Roller for $72,802. The second report is of recreational player Mark Collins who shipped the MSPT, Canterbury Park for $102,076.

 

2018 Super High Roller Bowl Scheduled For May at Aria

Since the debut of Super High Roller Bowl (SHRB) in 2015, it has been one of poker world’s biggest and most anticipated events of the year. Now, Poker Central has officially revealed the schedule for the fourth annual SHRB in the mecca of poker – Las Vegas, Nevada.

The high stakes event returns to ARIA Resort & Casino with a $300,000 buy-in. The event is scheduled to play out from May 27 to May 30 and will officially open the registrations on March 1. Being an open event, players may register for the tournament with a $30,00 non-refundable deposit.

The event will be limited to 48 players and ARIA will reserve 18 seats for its VIP guest entrants. The event is set to stream on PokerGO, Poker Central’s live streaming video subscription service. In addition to PokerGO’s coverage, NBC Sports Network will feature Super High Roller Bowl episodes on both NBCSports.com and the NBC Sports app.

The prize pool of the tournament will amount to $14 million with the eventual champion slated to receive an estimated $5,000,000 top prize!

Commenting on the release of its 2018 schedule, Sam Simmons, Vice President of Content at Poker Central said, “The Super High Roller Bowl is the world championship of high stakes tournament poker. We sold out in seven hours last year, so players will need to get their deposits in quickly. We look forward to bringing together poker’s biggest stars.”

 

Loni Harwood Takes Down WSOP Circuit Las Vegas High Roller For $72,802

The WSOP Circuit Las Vegas Event #13: $2,200 No-Limit Hold’em High Roller at the Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino saw a field of 130 entrants. It was Loni Harwood who topped the field to win the title along with $72,802 in prize money.Harwood now boasts of five of the shiny WSOP Circuit rings along with the two WSOP gold bracelets as part of her $2.6 million career cashes.

Out of the total entry field, only 16 players were guaranteed to cash and the final table bubble burst on Ryan Olisar who exited at tenth place to set up the all American final table of nine.

The first elimination at the final table came in Viet Vo who exited in ninth place after he jammed with ace-ten suited and didn’t improve against Vincent Moscati ace-king suited.

Next to bust was Moscati (8th place) when his ace-nine suited lost to Joseph Cheong’s ace-queen on a dry board.

Ryan Leng, Seth Davies and Phue Nguyen were the next three to hit the rail in seventh, sixth and fifth place respectively.

The sixth elimination came in when Cheong with pocket queens sent Stephen Bierman packing as the latter’s pocket eights couldn’t save the day for him.

Three handed play concluded with Ankush Mandavia’s exit in third place.

Heads-up play saw Cheong and Harwood battling for the title. Cheong’s hopes for a second WSOP Circuit ring ended after he shoved ace-nine and didn’t improve against Harwood’s ace-queen suited. Cheong finished as a runner up while Harwood took down the high roller and the coveted ring.

Recreational Player Mark Collins Takes Down MSPT Canterbury Park For $102,076

The Mid-States Poker Tour (MSPT) wrapped up its first stop of Season 9 at Canterbury Park in Shakopee, Minnesota. The tournament crowned its winner in recreational player Mark Collins who took down the event pocketing the first-place prize worth $102,076.

The 44-year-old IT system administrator from Illinois, Collins has been playing poker recreationally for eight years before this big score. Prior this win, he had just $3,289 in tournament earnings.

The tournament drew a field of 491 runners who ponied up the $1,100 buy-in and the top 54 runners finished in the money. Some of those who cashed included Mike Schneider, Todd Breyfogle, Craig Trost, Kou Vang and super high roller regular John Morgan.

The first player to get busted at the final table was Umut Ozturk in tenth place.

The next two eliminations fell in the hands of the eventual winner Collins, who first railed Gerald Cunniff in ninth place and then, Charlie Workman in eighth place.

The next players to follow Workman to the rail were Gary Ewald (7th place), John Reading (6th place) and Joel Doering (5th place).

Soon thereafter, Sherry Hammers sent pro Aaron Johnson packing in fourth place.

Collins’ third victim was Hammers with the formers against Hammers’ . The lady was in dire need of a queen but the board ran and she had to settle for a third place finish.

Heads-up, Collins held a commanding lead of almost 4-1 against his final rival Van Syckle. On the final hand of the tournament, Collins opened with and then called Van Syckle’s all in with . The flop gave Collins the lead with a pair of sixes. Neither the turn nor the river supported Van Syckle who had to settle as the runner up while Collins took home the title and the first-place purse.
