Moving from spring into summer, the heat is on the rise equally in poker world, as it is in the air around us. But then, what would players be without some summer madness to make life all the more interesting and colorful?

We return with another edition of our PokerGuru Gossip Column and this time we have some absolutely nutty tales about fans tattling on idols, attention grabbing acts, grudge matches and a prop-bet gone wrong.

As usual, Dan Bilzerian graces these pages and he is joined by pal Bill Perkins, alonside AI Claudico defeater Doug Polk talking about Tom Dwan. Then there are Mike Dentale, Cate Hall and a 320-pound British goalie Wayne Shaw!

But, it will be best if you read it all by yourself over a smart cool tall Martini, like the colour-changing ones served at the Hilton, New Orleans, Riverside. Enjoy the chill of the liquor, even as you tingle with the following stories.

Doug Polk Disses Tom Dwan

Times change and so do people! Hallowed idols fall from grace and fans outgrow them. Such an incident happened recently, when Doug Polk who once admired Tom Dwan, one of the most feared online grinders, claimed that “durrr” is in hock to the tune of seven figures, far more than reported earlier.

In a recent blog, Polk stated that ‘strong evidence’ pointed out to Dwan being the one who owed Haralabos Voulgaris, one of the world’s most successful bettors a huge sum, pending since last year.

A year ago, Voulgaris had refused to name the high-stakes player and according to Polk, recently tweeted ‘where the f—k is my money?’

Adding fuel to Polk’s accusations was a recent tweet by Voulgaris –

Hey @TomDwan been trying to get a hold of you (i’m sure you can guess why) can you msg me with your correct contact info?”

Polk further added that Dan “jungleman” Cates had been ‘scammed’ by Dwan in the long-standing “Durrrr Challenge” that Dwan had been refusing to re-start. A side bet that would net Cates almost $1.5 million from a side bet.

Bilzerian Perkins Attention-Grabbing Continues

Dan Bilzerian continues his blatant acts to grab attention, though these days, most people are hardly listening.

The latest from the ‘King of Instagram’ reveals that he has been multi-accounting on close friend and prop-bet partner Bill Perkin’s account at America’s Card Room.

On discovery, the account was disabled, but neither of the above playboys seems to be bothered.

‘Blood & Bones’ at $15K Prop Bet

Just days after Stacy Matuson won a grudge match against William Kassouf, another one is brewing between Cate Hall and Mike Dentale. Set up last December, the grudge match has already become the butt of numerous jokes at the ridiculous low stakes involved.

The $15,000 buy-in heads up match will have blinds of $50-$100 and when a player wins twice, its over. This means that the prize is just $30K!

Hall has all time career cashes worth $878,980, with Dentale having more than $1.4 million, giving rise to the question that what exactly is the fuss all about?

Twitterati exploded with fans making fun of the match –

“Laughably low stakes,” said Jonathan Aguilar.

“So stupid! Who cares! Over under 100 viewers? I’ll take the U,” @worstever_mush posted.

“Fail…waiting 3 months = lost interest and stakes insignificant to both BRs,”

“did you say 15k each? OMG!!! This is going to break the Internet!,” @DALjr_5000 joked.

“All this planning and whatnot for 15k or max 30k gain? How pathetic…,” @BigBossBallin expressed.

Dentale however, seems to be all taken up with the match and in a recent video behaved as if it was an epic battle, going to the extent of saying that there would be “blood and bones, all over the table”…

Fat Goalie Upsets All Bets

Talking of bets, this was one prop-bet that really is hard to digest! Sun Bets, a UK sports betting site offered 8 to 1 odds that Wayne Shaw, a popular goalie would not eat a pie at a Monday soccer game. Shaw is also the coach and community liaison for the team.

The game in question was favorites Arsenal versus Shaw’s Sutton United, an F.A. Cup fifth-round match.

The bet offer came about because of the 46-year old Shaw’s large girth of more than 320 pounds, though he has a lot of fans for his action.

Now, Shaw came to know about the bet and decided to profit his friends by actually doing the unthinkable. He actually got a meat-and-potato pie and ate it on the sidelines! And, what’s more, went on to loudmouth the feat to the press, with the match aired live on BBC.

Shaw later told the Financial Times, “I thought I would give [the fans] a bit of banter and let’s do it. All the subs were on and we were 2-0 down. I went and got [the pie] at half-time from the kitchen; I had it all prepared and ready to go.”

The large-hearted goalie claimed that he did not benefit directly from the bets, but his friends did. As for Sun Bets, it seems they lost a five-figure sum!

Aah, the madness that comes with all things betting! Enough for today, as our heads are reeling, and we too are off for some liquid fortification, preferably of the stronger kind!

Cheers, until the next time, which we are sure will follow soon!
