PGT Season 3 got off to a flying start this April. The 5 event series attracted some of the best tournament players of the country and with the POY freeroll to launch the series there could be no better start to the season. At the end it was Kolkata boy Prabhat Mukherjea who sealed his name on the title of the PGT Season 2 champion!

The biggest find of the series was Kanishak Kapoor who made an impression with back-to-back wins in the 5K freezeout and 10K super bounty events. A fair amount of luck along with some aggressive play saw him dominating the series.

Player of the Year finalist Rajesh Goyal (cover image) too made a strong comeback in the 7K re-entry main event after finishing a disappointing 7th in the POY freeroll. Rajesh bested the field of 83 entries in the PGT main event and was the last man standing at the final table.

Team Pro Sangeeth Mohan was the 1st elimination on the 10 handed final table. Tournament regular and the winner of the PGT 3K turbo freezeout Husain Lakda was the next to be railed followed by 5K freezeout runner-up Abhishek Chopra who busted next when his cowboys were cracked by Shashank Sidharth`s on the board . PokerGuru member Prateek Bhartia`s dry run at the PGT continued after he was eliminated 7th, on the money bubble yet again after finishing agonizingly close to the money in the previous 10K super bounty event.

Amit R Jain was the next player out when after losing half his stack to Rajnish Kumar, Amit puts in all at stake with only to be looked up by Shashank Siddharth`s . No Ace on the board eliminates Amit in 6th place. Delhi based Dhaval Mudgal got unlucky to finish 5th with against of Vikas Jain with the board getting Vikas a . The all-in showdowns on the final table continued with Rajnish Kumar moving all-in with from under the gun position and Vikas Jain called from the button with . The Ace on the board didn’t change anything and Vikas`s Jack kicker came into play eliminating Rajnish in 4th position. Action was slow for the next 30 minutes before we witnessed one of the biggest showdowns of the event. Rajesh Goyal led the action with a bet of 20,000 from the small blind and in a battle of the blinds Shashank Siddharth announces all-in for 145,000 from the big blind. Rajesh makes the call. Rajesh Goyals held up against of Shashank railing him in 3rd place.

With blind levels at 5,000/10,000 and a running ante of 1000 it takes only a couple of hands of heads-up play to decide the winner. According to the event`s live coverage, the final hand of the tournament played out like this “Rajesh Goyal is the PGT April Edition champion. The short heads-up duel lasted but a few hands. On the final hand of the tournament we had Vikas Jain going allin with after a raise of 30000 by Rajesh. Rajesh Goyal makes the call with .

Flop and Rajesh stays ahead, turn showed a small ray of hope for Vikas Jain as he was looking for a ten to win or this could be an end of his run in tonight`s event. But the river sealed the victory for Rajesh Goyal and he will take down the tittle of PGT 7K re-entry main event.
