The WPT DeepStacks Netherlands has taken center stage at the Holland Casino Valkenburg, which is located in one of the most beautiful spots in South Limburg. The casino is located in close proximity to both the German and Belgium borders, and is just a short distance from France. The tournament room can host 25 poker tables with breathtaking views of the landscape making it a perfect venue for a series like the WPT DeepStacks Netherlands.

The series commenced on October 9 and is slated to conclude on October 15 with the crowning of the €1,100 Main Event champion. Three challengers from India, namely Adda52 pro Kunal Patni, Zarvan Tumboli and Jaydeep Dawer are in attendance at the series and as expected the team has already made inroads in the few events that they have played.

The opening Warm-up event concluded with Paul Souhoka topping the 186 entries to pocket €13,534 in prize money. Zarvan Tumboli was in thick of action and managed to make it to final table. He finished seventh for €2,253 (₹1,73,487). Kunal Patni made a deep run too but fell shy of making final table with a 13th place finish that netted him €811(₹62,449).

Meanwhile, the €2,200 High Roller event got underway and attracted 75 entries. At the end of Day 1, only 19 survivors made it through to Day 2. From the Indian camp, Jaydeep Dawer has made it through to Day 2 with 115,000 in chips.

Warm-up Event - Final Day Recap

36 players from the 182 entries survived for the final day of the €340 Warm Up event and start-of-day chip leader Paul Souhoka was the last player standing and won €13,534 after defeating Rick Asteleijner in the heads-up battle.

The event saw the top 21 places getting paid and a few notables who missed the money bus were Joris Ruijs, Niek Minten, Paul Vergeer and Kees van Brugge.

Jean-Philippe Schoonbrood was the bubble boy and went out in brutal fashion. His pocket kings were cracked by an opponent’s pocket tens with a ten coming up on the river.

Some notables who made it in the money were Kunal Patni (13th place), Tim 'FysioTim' Hendriks (14th place), Gert-Jan Kars (18th place), Nazim Kicik (19th place) and Rolf van Brug (20th place).

Egi Adriaans went out at 10th place to setup the nine-handed final table.

Yi Fan Li down to his last two big blinds eventually fell at the hands of the eventual champion Souhoka.

Next to fall in fifth place was Kees Aerts followed by Ali Dikici who was having a decent run but was finished off by Souhoka.

Down to three-handed, a huge clash happened between Patrick Bor and Souhoka with the former shoving with :@13scard 3 on the flop :@11hcard 3card 3. Souhoka snap called with :@13hcard 3 for a flush to take down the pot and set up the heads-up battle with a decent chip lead against Rick Asteleijner.

Asteleijner got some much-needed help early on with a double up but it was all over soon thereafter. Almost evenly matched, Souhoka’s :@13dcard 3 were up against Asteleijner’s :@1dcard 3. Souhoka rivered a pair on the board :@11scard 3card 3card 3card 2 to seal the deal and win the title.
